In those days, I saw scenes that were not only difficult to write about but dangerous to describe. I saw the trauma etched into the faces of my fellow citizens. It felt as if the homeland I love was burning in merciless flames. The sound of rockets shook the city, sounds no Iranian ever deserved to hear.

در آن روزها، صحنه‌هایی را به چشم دیدم که نوشتن از آن‌ها نه‌تنها دشوار، بلکه خطرناک است. تروما را در چهره‌ هم‌میهنانم می‌دیدم، انگار میهنی که دوستش دارم، در شعله‌های بی‌رحمانه‌ای می‌سوخت. صدای موشک‌ها، شهر را می‌لرزاند؛ صداهایی که هیچ ایرانی‌ای سزاوار شنیدن آن‌ها نیست.

What set this war apart from others was that it felt like a fight between two strangers taking place in our home. Writing about war, and even reading about it, presses hard on the human heart. That’s why, in the coming days, I’ll try to share glimpses from travels that took place before these dark times, souvenirs from a time when the scent of life still lingered in our land.

Still, there is much more I have to write. I will do so when the time is right.

آن‌چه این جنگ را از دیگر جنگ‌ها جدا می‌کرد، این بود که گویی جدالی میان دو بیگانه، در خانه‌ ما رخ داده است. نوشتن و خواندن از جنگ، دل آدمی را می‌فشارد. از همین‌رو، در روزهای پیش‌ رو، تلاش می‌کنم تصاویری از سفرهایی که پیش از این روزهای سیاه رقم خورده‌اند، با شما به اشتراک بگذارم؛ یادگاری‌هایی از زمانی که هنوز بوی زندگی، بر خاک ما جاری بود. با این وجود بسیاری برای نوشتن دارم، در فرصتی بهتر خواهم نوشت.

Theodora (HWV 68) is a dramatic oratorio in three acts by George Frideric Handel, set to an English libretto by Thomas Morell. The oratorio concerns the Christian martyr Theodora and her Christian-converted Roman lover, Didymus. It had its first performance at Covent Garden Theatre on 16 March 1750. Not popular with audiences in Handel's day, Theodora is now recognised as a masterpiece. It is usually given in concert, being an oratorio, but is sometimes staged. 

تئودورا (HWV 68) یک اوراتوریو دراماتیک در سه پرده از جورج فریدریک هندل است که به صورت لیبرتو انگلیسی توسط توماس مورل تنظیم شده است.  این سخنرانی مربوط به شهید مسیحی تئودورا و معشوقه رومی مسیحی او، دیدیموس است.  اولین اجرای خود را در 16 مارس 1750 در تئاتر کاونت گاردن داشت. تئودورا که در زمان هندل محبوبیت نداشت، اکنون به عنوان یک شاهکار شناخته می‌شود.  معمولاً در کنسرت اجرا می شود، به عنوان یک اوراتوریو، اما گاهی اوقات به صحنه می رود.﻿
