In those days, I saw scenes that were not only difficult to write about but dangerous to describe. I saw the trauma etched into the faces of my fellow citizens. It felt as if the homeland I love was burning in merciless flames. The sound of rockets shook the city, sounds no Iranian ever deserved to hear.

در آن روزها، صحنه‌هایی را به چشم دیدم که نوشتن از آن‌ها نه‌تنها دشوار، بلکه خطرناک است. تروما را در چهره‌ هم‌میهنانم می‌دیدم، انگار میهنی که دوستش دارم، در شعله‌های بی‌رحمانه‌ای می‌سوخت. صدای موشک‌ها، شهر را می‌لرزاند؛ صداهایی که هیچ ایرانی‌ای سزاوار شنیدن آن‌ها نیست.

What set this war apart from others was that it felt like a fight between two strangers taking place in our home. Writing about war, and even reading about it, presses hard on the human heart. That’s why, in the coming days, I’ll try to share glimpses from travels that took place before these dark times, souvenirs from a time when the scent of life still lingered in our land.

Still, there is much more I have to write. I will do so when the time is right.
